My latest obsession is a comic called Lackadaisy, I’m sorry to say. (Why sorry? Because the main characters are cats, that’s why. I also apologize profusely for having the entire ‘Thundercats’ series and for peeing myself a little bit when I saw the preview for the new Transformers movie. Protracted adolescence is highly embarrassing.) Anyway, it’s set during Prohibition, so there’s a whole lot of bootlegging and tommygunning and vaudevilling and flappering. The main thing is the dialogue, which is pitch-perfect and very funny, and matches well with the expressive faces of the cats - which are very expressive indeed considering that most cats I’ve met have two expressions: 1. Homicidal maniac, and 2. Patronizing bastard.
